The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) is a labor union which represents 110,000 public employees in the federal government and is affiliated with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the AFL-CIO. NFFE has nearly 200 locals around the country. Its members work in many departments and agencies of the federal government including the Department of Defense, the Forest Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the General Services Administration, the National Park Service, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Passport Services division of the Bureau of Consular Affairs (Department of State).NFFE is seeking a motivated undergraduate to work three to four days a week. The intern will have the opportunity to learn more about NFFE and issues affecting federal employees such as: the Paid Parental Leave Act, passport security, social security fairness, VA collective bargaining, the Federal Retirement Reform Act, the National Security Personnel System, and the Employee Free Choice Act, all while working closely with NFFE policy and research staff.
