The ASN is partnered with a conversationalist organization called the Ahyirensu Naturalist Centre. The centre is internationally renowned and is a forest reserve, the only such reserve in the content of Africa. The Centre has won the Green Apple Award for Best Environmental Practice, twice! In a third year the centre came runner up, secondly only to the national forest service of Cameroon. The centre is the dream of one man, Mr. Danso. One man almost beat a whole nation. The Centre serves as a research institute for the University of Ghana and has hosted interns and researchers from various Universities across the world, such as Oxford.
At this centre the ASn is developing an 80 acre of the Centres land into a commercial farm that uses environmentally sound practices. Our interest to bring unpaid interns from North America or Europe looks for agricultural expertise and for leadership to serving the Centre, involving the villages around the project.
The interns that wish to work on the farm will take on large projects that invest infrastructure, such as, helping install a windmill pump to feed the irrigation system, or to help construct structures to house equipment. These interns will be asked to display these sustainable practices to the community at large.
While, interns who engage the villages will be asked to help conduct the daily activities at the farm along side volunteer work at a local the schools or clinic.
We are looking for a strong minded individuals with any background, and an interest in sustainability. Someone that will take one big projects one step at a time and wants to contribute. We ask for interns to stay around 3 months or more.
