The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) promotes and safeguards human rights in Latin America. HRF investigates and reports on human rights abuses with a special focus on civil liberties. While HRF is committed to human rights worldwide, it currently focuses its efforts on a region often overlooked by the human rights community. Its current countries of focus are: Bolivia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. In addition to its work in Latin America, through its Oslo Freedom Forum program, HRF is able to expand its international scope and bring world leaders and activists together to raise human rights to the top of the global agenda.HRF defends freedom of expression, the rule of law, free and fair elections, due process, press freedom, citizen media, internet freedom, equality before the law, religious freedom, institutional accountability, and freedom of assembly and association. HRF actively campaigns against torture and arbitrary imprisonment, using new media, film, and traditional grassroots advocacy to promote its efforts.
