East Village Visitor`s Center`s mission is to document the East Villages great history comprehensively and accurately by conducting interviews, researching public records, primary sources, books and maps, newspaper archives, municipal archives, and any other historical resources, and to provide this research freely to the public.We seek to educate the public through educational programs, special events, walking tours, performances, arts and historical exhibitions, a website, research publications and informative literature in order to raise public awareness of the East Village/Lower East Sides historic significance and influence in world history and provide means to nurture community self-awareness and sensitivity to historical struggles of immigrant communities, unions, outsider political, countercultural and community-based fledgling arts movements.
