Originally launched in 1985, WRNN started out as WTZA, transmitting on channel 62 in analog from Overlook Mountain in Woodstock, NY. Purchased by the French family in 1994, WTZA was renamed WRNN - the Regional News Network - and transformed into the informative, innovative and quality news station it is today. In 1999, RNN began originating prime-time news and public affairs programming. Soon after, in 2001, RNN began producing RNN Live and RNN Metro, forging a new era in regional media. In September of 2003, RNN helped usher in the digital age, and WRNN-DT went on the air from Beacon Mountain, NY. Since 2000, RNN has added 1 million viewers annually! RNNs primary production facilities are located in a brand new all-digital facility in Rye Brook, New York. The station also has state-of-the-art studios in New York City and Kingston, NY, our city of license. In 2005, WRNN launched the Emmy Award-winning Richard French Live, an electronic-age town hall meeting where business leaders and decision makers, politicians, pundits and local viewers all engage in a public discussion of controversial issues on a national, regional, and local level. From the treatment of our vets to the plight of the immigrant community; from pressure on the American middle class to news from the campaign trail; each day host Richard French takes a unique look at the days top stories and offers special analysis and perspective viewers will find nowhere else.
