Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, our organization now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters working tirelessly to eliminate these diseases. We fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies and provide lifesaving tools and information to save and improve lives.

Our nationwide organization includes 144 local offices and nearly 2,700 employees. We moved our national headquarters from New York to Dallas in 1975 to be more centrally located. The American Stroke Association was created as a division in 1997 to bring together the organizations stroke-related activities.

About Lawyers Have Heart:
Lawyers Have Heart (LHH) will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015. Lawyers Have Heart, more popularly known as LHH, is the largest 10K in DC and the premiere philanthropic effort for DCs legal and consulting community. Since its inception in 1991, LHH has grown to attract over 5,500 participants and supporters and has raised almost $10 million dollars for the American Heart Association. These funds are allocated towards the amazing research, educational and training programs, and other initiatives that the American Heart Association carries out, as a part of its mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
