Educational Services Intern

Description:

There will be an opportunity for an intern to work on several different projects for this start-up tutoring business. These can include:
• Creating, conducting, and analyzing market research and customer satisfaction surveys
• Creating educational materials for adult learners, children, and parents
• Converting traditional lesson plans into interactive, online applications
• Creating print/radio advertising and social media marketing
• Researching educational methods, occupational therapy methods, and speech/language pathology methods as they relate to children and adults with learning disabilities and ADHD.

The intern will gain familiarity with children and adults with learning disabilities and ADHD; the private tutoring and educational services sector; running a small business; and multisensory instructional methods. There will also be an opportunity to become trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of instruction (note that this will not lead to a certification, although it may serve as part of the certification process). If interested, the intern may also learn about web site design and administration.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
• Excellent grammar and punctuation
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to do independent research & fluency with Google search
• fluency with Windows and Microsoft Office
Additional skills preferred, but not required:
• Experience with learning disabilities and/or ADHD
• Tutoring or teaching experience
• Artistic talent
• familiarity with Google documents, Microsoft Publisher, and graphics software
• knowledge of web design (XHTML and CSS, Dreamweaver)
• experience with Skype software
• knowledge of reading education
• knowledge of or experience with occupational or speech therapy
• experience with a foreign language
