YAE Web Technical Internship
Description:
STScI announces an opportunity for a highly motivated undergraduate student with an “artistic eye” for the YAE Web Technical Internship. The Youth for Astronomy and Engineering program provides a supportive environment that encourages diversity in the astronomical and engineering community by increasing awareness to young women, minorities, and those with special needs.The person filling this position will be primarily responsible for reconstructing the YAE’s website in collaboration with the Information Technology Services Division (designing and creating a user-friendly site).
The Space Telescope Science Institute is located on Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus and offers a stimulating work environment. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference given to local candidates.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must be at a junior or senior level in college and working towards a degree in preferably Graphic Arts, Astronomy, Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems. Other majors will be considered. Masters students will also be considered.Candidate’s must have an expertise background in the design of dynamic web sites using HTML, scripting applications (PHP and Python are desirable) and JavaScript. Familiarity with common web tools such as DreamWeaver is a plus. Familiarity with image software such as Adobe Photoshop is a plus, but not required. Good organizational and communication skills and having the ability to work within a fast paced environment are necessary, as is the ability to work without supervision.
