Status: part-time, 16-24 hours per week

Compensation: $11.50/hour

Camino is seeking communications interns who are committed to social change efforts and eager to gain experience in primarily research, but also media advocacy, creative services, and persuasive writing.

We believe that smart communications can play a pivotal role in furthering equality and social justice. Camino Public Relations was founded in 2007 and is an award-winning firm. Campaigns have included education, health, affirmative action, immigration, sex education, gender equity, employment, politics, and more.

Camino is a non-traditional workplace and all members of our team engage in collaboration and contribute to a healthy work environment. Interns are required to proactively contribute to a healthy and creative workplace both in their personal conduct and their assigned responsibilities. We insist on the highest professional standards, including full client confidentiality.

We have two summer internships available at our Chelsea offices. Candidates must be available to work between 16 and 24 hours per week during regular business hours at our Chelsea offices.

Specifically, interns will be responsible for:

- Performing online and offline research in various subject areas and around multiple issues.
- Drafting articles, backgrounders, and reports depending upon writing capacity.
- Collecting and inputting data with excellent accuracy.
- Monitoring and reporting on media stories.
- Growing and maintaining media lists.
- Document management including online and offline files.
- Administrative functions as needed such as answering the phone and running errands.
- Healthy workplace assignments, which ranges from healthy snacks to creative group activities.
- Creative development depending upon capacity.

For potential hires, Camino will:

- Contact applicant’s personal and professional references.
- Research applicant’s professional history including social networking and blogs.

Camino expects professionalism in personal social networking sites and blogs as they may be viewed (directly or indirectly) by Camino staff, clients, or members of the public.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include:

- Excellent online research skills.
- A fierce commitment to accuracy, from arriving on time to proofreading to fact checking.
- Advanced knowledge of basic business software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel) and the ability to learn new software programs.
- A creative, energetic, flexible attitude about work.
- Timeliness and respect for other’s schedules.
- Collaboration, and a spirit of teamwork.
- Professionalism and high quality professional products at all times.
- Support for Camino’s mission and values.
- Personal initiative to learn, develop new skills, and be informed about issues that relate to the firm and its clients.

-No allergies to dogs because two of our team members are our office dogs.
