We believe the vital, simple, and captivating skill of riding a bike changes lives. The CYCLE Kids mission is to engage children in physical activity to address the health and emotional issues facing today’s under-active, often overweight, children. Our program is founded on the idea that good health is holistic: nutrition, physical activity, intellectual stimulation, and emotional well-being are all related facets of overall wellness. CYCLE Kids uses a comprehensive curriculum that teaches not just the skill of bicycling, but nutrition and literacy. The program fosters mentorships and builds community, empowering kids and giving them skills and lessons that endure a lifetime.

CYCLE Kids is seeking a special events & development intern in Cambridge, MA to work 15-20 hours per week. Because CYCLE Kids office is structured as an open, team-oriented, non-hierarchical space, development interns will also gain insight into many different facets of non-profit work, all while helping CYCLE Kids raise more funds and execute more events to advance its mission

Qualifications:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conduct prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
• A hands-on experience with the planning of organizational special events.
• Maintaining client and donor database (Salesforce), including logging donations, and drafting donor acknowledgements.
• Drafting development event invitations, including and relevant social media copy.


Specifically, development interns will gain:

• An overview of non-profit fundraising, donor communications, and event planning.
• Proficiency in Salesforce, our client and donor database, and experience with managing the odds and ends of a busy not-for-profit organization.
• Position is unpaid, but willing to sign off on school credit.


A qualified candidate must:

• Show a commitment to fighting the childhood obesity epidemic.
• Possess strong communication, organization, and computer skills.
• Show a willingness to perform administrative tasks with enthusiasm and high attention to detail.
• Possess an interest in a career in the nonprofit sector – particularly in event planning, development and fundraising.

Paid Internship Info:

Position is unpaid, but can provide college credit
