The Out of the Darkness Walk series is the signature fundraising campaign of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide. Since our first walk season in 2004, we have grown to over 290 walks located all across the country, with new sites being added each year.

WALK INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

The Out of the Darkness Walk Intern (unpaid) will work alongside the National Walk Brand Manager to assist in the day to day operations of the department, including but not limited to: website updates, registration support, material orders, dissemination of walk supplies, event reporting, responding to general inquiries, brainstorming creative fundraising and team building ideas, assisting with email marketing, social media, and more.

Interns will be asked to take leadership roles in all facets of their duties, and will be encouraged to add their own voice and talents.

TIME COMMITMENT:

15 hours a week minimum

Qualifications:

-Internship candidates must be self-motivated with a positive attitude
-Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
-Good written and verbal communication skills.
-Computer skills required: Internet Research, Microsoft Office programs. Previous CRM experience is helpful, but not required.
-Interest in marketing and fundraising, experience a plus.
-Interest in nonprofit management a plus.
