Location: New York, NY
Hours/Days Per Week: 3-4 days/week, 20 hours/week; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Length of Assignment: Three (3) Months, starting in June 2014
Reports To: Development Assistant-Major Gifts

Internship Duties:
Autism Speaks is seeking an intern to assist the Major Gifts team in the New York City office. The intern will gain valuable knowledge in nonprofit fundraising, prospect research and development, with a special emphasis on major donor relationships. This is an unpaid position that may be used for college credit. Required commitment of 3-4 days per week for a minimum of 20 hours.

Responsibilities:
Maintain donor files, including creating and updating records
Organize and compile gift and donor data
Modify, edit, and possibly create spreadsheets on donation amount and other data
Assist in Prospect and Donor Research
Assist in the execution of large and small mailings; fact-checking; and copy-editing
Other assistance as necessary

Qualifications:

Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be a current student enrolled in a College or University degree program
Professional and responsible demeanor
Effective writing and organizational skills
Interest in learning the details of Major Gifts fundraising
Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
Database experience is a plus
Ability to work independently
