Basic Functions: The Development Fellow’s goal is to prepare for future employment in development through participation and leadership in a broad range of areas including database management, annual appeal, event planning, and major donor engagement. He or she will provide value by providing leadership and support.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Manage the gift entry process
• Engage donors by creating and executing a program to connect donors and homeowners through a variety of methods and the creation of the appropriate collateral.
• During a portion of the fellowship, temporarily manage the following functions:
o Execute the weekly recognition and stewardship of donors through donor thank you calls, donor tax acknowledgement emails, and donor thank you letters
o Manage the Salesforce.com donor database through the review of duplicate records; maintenance of workflows; review of data for integrity and completeness; and creation of accounts, campaigns, and tasks
o Create, customize, and pull reports from Salesforce.com database as needed
• Gain proficiency and expertise in the following areas: database management, annual appeal, event planning, and major donor engagement. This proficiency will be gained by rotating through different development program areas.
• Provide leadership on special projects as requested.

Other Duties: Habitat Charlotte’s Fellowship Program aims to provide professional development to talented, motivated, and proficient individuals interested in continued employment with Habitat in both the near and long term. This is a short term, full-time, paid opportunity lasting one year. Further employment beyond the term dates of the Fellowship are not guaranteed. Because of the unique nature of this position, there will be a variety of required trainings which will be outlined in the “Fellowship Participation Agreement.”

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
• Enthusiasm for teamwork, accuracy, initiative, and critical thinking
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with a database in a professional environment preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs without assistance
• Ability to stand or sit for the majority of an 8 hour day while using a computer.
• Ability to drive, Habitat will reimburse for mileage, to meet with homeowners and donors and navigate homeowners’ entrances that are not handicap accessible.
