* The Wilson Center is closely monitoring guidelines established by the CDC, State Department, and other government authorities surrounding COVID-19. At this time, the Center is offering remote-only internship opportunities.

The Brazil Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars seeks a graduate-level paid staff intern, to start immediately and continue through August 2021. This internship is designed to provide the individual selected with the opportunity for practical experience in an environment that successfully mixes academic study with public policy.

The intern will gain valuable experience in a variety of projects, including event coordination, research, social media, editing, and some administrative assignments. The intern will also support the Senior Associate’s work on the Brazil-US Dialogue on Sustainability and Climate Change and other Brazil Institute initiatives.

Qualifications:

Qualifications
Successful applicants should have a demonstrable interest in Brazil, including coursework and/or work experience. Applicants should also have strong research and writing skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to work independently and collectively as part of group. Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.

Applicants must be either:
1) currently enrolled in a graduate degree program,
2) a recent graduate (within the last year), or
3) have been accepted to enter an advanced degree program.

Internship Information
This internship is paid an hourly rate.

We are seeking an intern who can commit a minimum of 20 hours per week during the spring, and transition to full-time for the summer.

This internship may be extended past August 2021, if all parties agree and the eligibility requirements are still met at that point in time.


Employment Eligibility
The individual selected for this position will be expected to provide documentation showing U.S. employment eligibility prior to being appointed.

International students are eligible, but they must hold a valid F-1 or J-1 visa and appropriate work authorization: all international students must obtain written permission from their Designated School Official or Responsible Visa Officer at their university stating that they are in valid immigration status and eligible to do an internship at the Center.
