Company/Organization: The SEED Foundation

Description:

The SEED Foundation (SEED) seeks a Research & Data Intern for a short-term assignment. The intern, tasked with assisting this project from May 1 – July 1, 2022, will support the data collection, analysis, design, & visualization associated with the implementation of SEED’s college matching technology solution. The Intern will primarily be responsible for: (1) Collecting data about college supports at higher
ed institutions via SEED’s existing College Supports Evaluation tool, (2) Reviewing and updating (if necessary) current algorithm, (3) Reviewing, mining, analyzing SEED’s existing college matching/tier data, (4) Using CoPilot(™)/Salesforce(™) system to upload and clean the data, (5) Attending technology partner meetings with Chief Growth Officer and other designated SEED staff.

Qualifications:

The ideal intern is expected to have/be:
• A commitment to the mission of SEED and our core values of: COMPASSION, GRATITUDE,
GROWTH, INTEGRITY, PERSEVERANCE, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY
• Minimally working on a bachelor’s degree in education or a social science; working on a master’s
degree in education or a social science field is strongly preferred
• Work, intern or volunteer experience in schools, school districts, school networks, and/or
charter networks--especially those serving underrepresented students.
• Advanced data experience in the following areas:
o Using survey instruments to collect and examine data
o Analyzing data and creating data visualizations in Excel, Google Sheets, Google Data
Studio.
o Data analytics software (R, SPSS, Stata, Open Refine, Power BI) is a plus.
o Excel (pivot tables, connecting spreadsheets, formulas).
o Database/student information systems management.
• Strong analytical writing, communication, and presentation skills required.
• Experience with reviewing and synthesizing & summarizing information from reports, websites,
journals.
• Strong relationship management skills required; must be able to work independently, in a
dynamic, fast paced setting under tight deadlines.
• Critical thinking skills with the ability to take ownership and initiative to independently problem
solve.
• Willing to ask questions, adept in engaging in difficult conversations and being comfortable
engaging with senior organizational leaders.
• Flexible and comfortable with project changes.
• Comfortable with learning how to use additional educational technology platforms.
• Willing to travel to area colleges and participate in meetings.
