Whether you want to see how medicine is practiced in rural district hospitals or are looking for an urban experience, ELEP Volunteer & Internship Programs offers a wide variety of tailor-made Medicine and Healthcare Elective placements across Ecuador. Our Medical Elective is a period of 1 - 3 months of student placements in a hospital, Medical NGO or private clinic.

We provide medicine and healthcare placements in: general medicine, dentistry, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, physical therapy, nursing, ophthalmology, surgery, midwifery, emergency, etc.

Dear international student, whether you are studying for a career in the medical field and wish to have a broader Medicine and Health Care experience, then we can provide the elective or internship opportunity you are looking for. Since 2002, ELEP Volunteer & Internship Programs has organized unforgettable medical electives and medical internships for hundreds of premedical and medical students. During your medical elective or medical internship in South America, you will have the opportunity to work in one of the local medical NGOs, clinics or hospitals in Ecuador alongside a qualified doctor or nurse, to observe and take part in the day to day medical practice, gaining in this way unique medical experience.

Outside of the medical world, you will live with a selected host family in close proximity to the hospital, medical NGO or private clinic where you’ll be working. Besides, you will have the opportunity to meet with other international volunteers or interns to see the real Ecuador and explore this wonderful country.

For those students or interns with limited knowledge of the Spanish language, ELEP Volunteer & Internship Programs give you the opportunity to learn it by participating in our Spanish language training program.
