This position will mainly support the Program Coordinators at Architecture for Humanity headquarters, using a range of communications tools with an emphasis on graphic design.Supporting different Program Coordinators, the volunteers tasks will include but will not be limited to: the creation of compelling communications content (written and graphic), infographics, multi-media presentations for program reports as needed; researching and creating guides on how to best communicate our work; and support with administrative tasks as needed.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated graphic skills are necessary. This position is ideal for an independent and proactive learner who has a strong passion for humanitarian design. Due to the fast-paced nature of our work, agility to work on various tasks as needed is required. The volunteer will be working closely with the program team to evaluate the completed programs/ projects while developing the best tools to synthesize, document and communicate their impact. The candidate will also be required to work closely with other members of the staff such as the development and communication team.
This internship would provide the volunteer with an opportunity to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment, while improving upon their graphic, communications and research skills. Through the experience, the individual will have the opportunity to learn how our organization operates at the headquarters level.
Core Responsibilities:
Work closely with all team members including staff, Design Fellows, and fellow volunteers
Develop and create compelling marketing and presentation materials of varying scopes and for various end uses (both digital, interactive presentations and print), telling the story of our programs and their impact
Proactively research, identify and develop tools and guides to best communicate our work
Qualifications:
Strong graphic design skills
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and presentation applications such as PowerPoint or Keynote
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Quantitative and qualitative research skills
Self-directed with consistent follow-through
Flexible, agile and ability to learn quickly
Demonstrate initiative and eagerness to help where most needed
Basic HTML skills a plus (formatting for web updates)
Multi-media interactive presentation skills a plus (such as Prezi)
