INCLUDED is a nonprofit organization. We do essential work in difficult places, particularly the slums where migrants are crowded into the margins of big cities. We have grown since 2006 from a handful of people in a Beijing living room to having a presence in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Kathmandu, Dhaka and London. We have a goal of being in ten cities and a hundred community centers worldwide.

Job Description:

Title: Internship for After-school Project (ASP).

Vacancy: 1-2 in each community center.

Work Location: 4 community centers in Beijing (Dongba, Heiqiao, Zhufang and Xidian).

Work time: September to December 2013; at least three working days per week.

Many of the children are living under low condition and come from families that cannot support their children with their education or other after school activities. Their parents often work to very late which means the children are often left home alone and they dont get any help with their homework. After-School Project aims to provide tutoring of homework and activities for those children in primary school. We are providing tutoring support and good study environment for those children in need. The ASP interns are going to support the ASP team in their work in the community centers. The responsibility includes local coordination, contact with volunteers and students, daily direction and regular assessments.

Responsibility:

Coordinate ASP team and keep all the activities going well;
Coordinate ASP team to finish the direction and mid/final evaluation;
Operate the recruitment, training and management for ASP students and volunteers;
Manage and record the cash flow relative to the project;
Visit student’s home regularly;
If necessary, coordinate office daily work including to prepare and copy documents, send email and translate files.

Qualifications:

Strong sense of responsibility and enthusiasm;
Strong desire to help others;
Be good at communicating with children;
At least 3 months for working, 3 days per week ( 2 half-days = 1 day);
Undergraduate or above;
Be good at Microsoft Excel and Word;
Good abilities of organization, coordination and leadership;
Be good at both in Chinese and English.

What we offer

Allowance: Since INCLUDED is a young and not-yet-well-funded organization, we only provide stipends to Chinese interns, 20 RMB/day.

Certification: After meeting the requirements of work time and responsibilities, interns will get the internship certification from Included.

Experience: The internship position provides an opportunity for interns to collect experience from the management of specific projects. Interns will learn how to help the marginalized groups in society via projects of society and education. People will also know how NGO and social projects work through the internship. Experienced full-time employees from Included will offer supervision and guidance to the interns. As feedback, we hope all the interns would complete their missions well and keep the professional attitude all the time.
