THE POSITIONMeals On Wheels of San Francisco is seeking exceptional candidates to serve as Interns in the Volunteer Department. Interns have an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the breadth of non-profit work, and learn from an outstanding and experienced team. Social Services Interns act as a bridge between the Social Work and Volunteer departments, handling outreach to our homebound clients to offer volunteer services. Social Service Interns will help expand the MOWSF Volunteer Department with the implementation of a brand new program, in order to reach even more of the 1900 clients we serve with supportive services.
JOB SCHEDULE:
Fall 2012, Mid AugustEnd of October
Must be able to work 2-3 weekdays in our Bayview neighborhood office.
Minimum of 16 hours/week total for a 3 month commitment
Hours can be flexible within normal business hours of 8:30 a.m.4:30 p.m.
Up to full-time hours are availableJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handle all outreach to clients for volunteer services offered (ongoing and one-time services) and create a system for client communications record-keeping
Work with Social Workers/Case Managers when relevant in regards to clients
Help implement a Volunteer Neighborhood Networking program
Help with other volunteer appreciation activities
Help with volunteer recruitment for Social Work department needs
Client Volunteer Data Entry
Other duties as requested by Volunteer Director
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree or current/part-time students
Experience/strength/interest in one or some of the following: Project Management, Social Services, Gerontology, Public Health, Senior Issues, Community Outreach, Communications, Non Profit Leadership/Management, Volunteerism, and Data Management
