Marin Theatre Company (MTC) is currently accepting applications for our Arts Leadership Training Program during the 2014-15 season. Join a dynamic team of Bay Area artists and administrators dedicated to bringing professional theatre to Marin County.

End Date: June 19, 2015

Positions are available in Artistic Direction; Literary Management; Dramaturgy; Production Management; Theatre Arts Education; Development & Special Events; Community Engagement; Communications and Marketing, Graphic Production and Theatre Management.

MTC believes in cultivating the next generation of arts leaders by providing a supportive environment with increasing levels of responsibility commensurate with developed skills over the course of the internship. Interns will be exposed to all functions of their department as well as the organization as a whole. MTC provides interns with advanced training and experience in professional development, producing opportunities, and project management.

The Arts Leadership Training Program at Marin Theatre Company is designed for individuals already pursuing a path in theater, marketing or general management, providing the opportunity to transition from academia and pursue the participant’s goal of becoming a leader in in their field. By obtaining practical experience in a supportive environment, participants enhance their skills as guided participants and, eventually, as independent practitioners. The goal of our program is to prepare young arts leaders for possible integration into the Bay Area theatre community following a successful internship.

Time Commitment:
- Full Season (10 months)
- 35 hours per week
- Daily office hours between 9a-5p, some nights and weekends as needed
- Hours may increase during technical rehearsal/preview weeks and youth performances

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship. There are opportunities for supplemental paid work through Front of House and the Education department for qualified applicants. Hours will be set and remain steady so that interns can acquire outside employment nights and weekends.

Housing:
MTC does not provide housing but has affordable furnished housing available for rent. The housing available is an apartment with shared rooms in a co-ed living environment. Rent is $600 per month and includes utilities. There is a one-time $500 non-refundable move in fee.

Supplemental Income:
Part-time paid positions may be available to participants of the Internship Program, based on need and qualifications. Possible positions include: Box Office, Café staff and After School Drama Teacher.

Training:
Members of the Arts Leadership Training Program undergo intensive trainings each month to supplement training received in academic programs. The focus of the trainings is professional and administrative skills based development. Interns will assess their short-term goals and will be assessed midway through and at the end of the internship against those goals. Mentorship provided by supervisors and specifically the director of the program is a large part of the experience. Interns are provided with constant feedback and problem solving support as they develop skills and navigate challenges. MTC provides a supportive environment within which to learn with the expectation that each participant will be stretched and expected to maintain adjustments and embrace new challenges.

LITERARY MANAGEMENT
The Literary Management intern works with the Literary Manager. Duties include reading new plays and writing evaluations, reviewing script submissions and maintaining the script database and script library; assisting with research on upcoming productions, writing program notes and creating lobby displays; preparing dramaturgical packets, researching dramaturgical questions for productions and assisting as needed in rehearsals for upcoming main stage productions and new works readings; and copying scripts, and various administrative support duties. Exact duties determined based on interest and skill level. This position is ideal for candidates pursuing Literary Management.
