Description:

Architecture for Humanity consistently pursues support for programs that fit within our four focus areas. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member that will support the New Program Development Manager at Architecture for Humanity headquarters, primarily with research on potential partnerships, assistance with proposal writing, and some administrative tasks as needed.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. This position is ideal for an independent and proactive learner who has a strong passion for nonprofit development and humanitarian design. Due to the fast-paced nature of our work, agility to work on various tasks is required. While the volunteer will report to the New Program Development Manager, the individual may also be required to work closely with other members of staff.

This volunteer position would provide the individual with an opportunity to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment, while improving upon their communications, research, and nonprofit development skills. Through the experience, the individual will also have the opportunity to learn how our organization operates at the headquarters level.

Core Responsibilities:
• Research grant, partnership, and other funding opportunities
• Package proposals for funding opportunities
• Provide some administrative support for tracking contract records, funding opportunities and other tasks as needed.
• Attend seminars related to nonprofit development
• Demonstrate initiative and eagerness to help where most needed
• Work closely with all team members including staff, Design Fellows, and fellow volunteers

Qualifications:

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and presentation applications such as PowerPoint or Keynote
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
• Quantitative and qualitative research skills
• Self-directed with consistent follow-through
• Flexible, agile and ability to learn quickly
• International development or nonprofit development background a plus
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and basic HTML skills a plus
