Development Intern - Summer 2012

Description:

The Development Intern will work in cooperation with the Development Coordinator to meet the development goals of the Colorado Mountain Club. The focus will be on individual and corporate giving, and may include event planning, grant research, and administrative duties.

Qualifications:

Critical Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative support for development activities associated with foundation, individual, and corporate fundraising
• Ensure proper and timely entry of contributions and in-kind gifts into the Raiser’s Edge system
• Create and distribute timely, accurate, and thoughtful gift-acknowledgement letters
• Organize fundraising aspects of special events as needed

Additional Duties May Include:
• Assist in the marketing efforts for special events
• Communicate with donors, corporations and foundations via email, postal mail and phone calls
• Assist in designing and implementing email campaigns and social media posts
• Solicit and track auction item donations and sponsorship
• Research foundation and corporate grant opportunities
• Write, edit, and compile grant applications
• Material preparation and assembly
• Complete special projects as assigned

Education/Work Experience:
• Minimum of college level Junior classification; at least 1 year of previous work experience

Recommended Skills:
• Experience with PC Microsoft Windows and the software programs associated with Windows, particularly but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Database-entry skills, specifically with Raiser’s Edge, is a plus
• Experience (or interest in learning about) grant writing
