Nourish the Planet, L3C (NTP) is seeking Aquaponics interns to work on the plant propagation and fish health within our aquaponic systems. Interns would be working with Nourish the Planets aquaponics project. NTP was founded with the vision to research, develop, and bring to market innovative aquaponics technologies which improve upon previous methods of intensive aquaculture (fish farming). Aquaponics is the integration of aquaculture (in particular, freshwater finfish farming) and hydroponics, by which nutrient-rich fish wastewater is simultaneously fertilizing hydroponic gardens and being cleansed by the plants.

A Sustainable Agriculture Intern would be:
* Responsible for plant production measurements, recordings, and analysis;
* Work to observe, quantify, record, and analyze the progress of fish production, and maintain fish health;
* Improve practices to insure the highest levels of sustainability;
* Literature research on system designs and management;
* Following a seeding schedule for hydroponic propagation;
*Transplanting the hydroponic starts into our aquaponic system;
* Monitor the plant health and be knowledgeable about treatment for pest and deficiencies;
* Contribute to grant and scientific proposal writings;
* Interact with a diverse group of interns and professionals with backgrounds ranging in biology, chemistry, and sustainable design;
* Develop background knowledge in sustainable food production practices related to aquaponics.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

•Knowledgeable about plant biology
•Knowledgeable about fish biology (preferably educated in fisheries, but not necessary)
•Passionate about sustainability as it relates to agriculture and food production
•Must be able to commute to the south Loveland at least 2 days a week for a semester (12-15 weeks)
•A conscious-minded individual who is goal-oriented, diligent, and highly organized.
•Must be motivated, responsible, and capable of learning/achieving tasks as a team and independently.
•Ideal candidates are interested in building a career in sustainable development, botany, hydroponics or other forms of horticulture.
