Company/Organization: Korean Community Development Services Center

Description:

The Korean Community Development Services Center is currently seeking interns for our housing counseling office. The housing counseling program is HUD-approved and was established in 1998, in an effort to assist low-income residents secure and maintain housing.

Fortunately, since 1998 we have been able to assist thousands of community members through our housing counseling program. Between 2011 and 2013, we have served 1,389 community members, with the number of clients that we serve continuously growing each week. Our services include counseling for anti-predatory lending practices, pre-purchase counseling, rental agreement, post-occupancy counseling, landlord and tenant disputes, assistance in rental delinquency, and eviction procedure counseling. We have also been and continue to provide services in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, and Thai.
Much of this work has been made possible through our partnerships with local and state organizations such as OHCD and PHFA.
The intern will be trained to use basic housing counseling data entry programs such as CounselorMax and Fannie Mae Housing Counselor Online and assist with data entry. Interns will also be taught how to conduct follow-ups with housing clients, and conduct grant research and grant writing.
An ideal candidate will not only be passionate and talented, but will also be a motivated self starter, who is an organized and creative team player.

Summer interns are expected to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks where part-time semester interns are expected to work between 12-14 weeks, with the possibility of extension. Interns are required to work a minimum of 32 hours per week. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any form of compensation at this time.
