Founded in 1993, Women for Women International (WfWI) is dedicated to providing women survivors of war with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies. WfWI currently works in eight countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Rwanda and Sudan. During the last 18 years, WfWI has transformed the lives of more than 315,000 socially-excluded women and distributed over $100 million in direct aid and microcredit loans, benefiting more than 1.7 million family and community members in the process. In 2010, over 80,104 women in all eight countries received program services, with more than 46,363 sponsors from 88 countries across the world. WfWI has over 600 employees worldwide, and each of our country offices are fully staffed by women and men from the local community.

Women for Women International’s Washington office seeks an IT Support intern for a minimum of 8 weeks.

Project Description:
Women for Women International is seeking an IT support intern to assist staff with basic PC problems and tasks. We have approximately 70 desktops under management of an outsourced remote support vendor who will deal with all major support issues. Typical duties will include setup of new computers and other hardware, coordinating with the outsourced vendor to have the machines imaged and configured, and showing the user how to use it (if necessary), basic troubleshooting where the machine is unable to connect to the network, monitoring of trouble tickets with the vendor, maintaining software and hardware inventory records, and documenting processes. The successful applicant will also be tasked with completing an individual project, probably related to new system deployment.

Compensation:
Internships available at Women for Women International (WfWi) are currently unpaid positions. Academic credit is available for this internship experience.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
The successful candidate will have the following:

• Basic information about Google Apps (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google talk, Google Docs and Google Site).

• Hands on experience with PCs and MS XP professional, Office 2003, basic networking and troubleshooting. He/she will have a service oriented attitude and good communication skills.
