Description:
Cataloging articles, books, and other materials using Library of Congress Subject Headings and the library’s unique classification system Scanning and digitalizing articles and other publications Research and writing of fact sheets on various nonprofit and philanthropic topics and trends Circulation duties, including migration of print records to the catalog and shelf reading materials Literature searches and other research assistance as requested Cross-referencing library database and print records to ensure proper inventory of publications Other projects as needed
Qualifications:
The ability to work independently Excellent interpersonal and communications skills Physical ability to lift 20 lbs. 25-30 hour total time commitment – distribution of work hours is flexible

ISs Brian O’Connell Library is looking for a motivated Library Science intern to assist with diverse tasks. Working in collaboration with a staff member, the intern will be exposed to all aspects of managing a small, specialized library. The internship will provide the selected student with a greater understanding of the research and information surrounding the nonprofit and philanthropic sector and help prepare him/her to pursue a future in information, library or museum sciences. The intern will be responsible for putting hundreds of new books into circulation and helping staff to navigate our internal library database.
