Production Assistant Intern

The Wilson Center’s multimedia production office is currently accepting applications to fill a production assistant intern position. The office works in support of the Center’s Communications and Media Relations effort covering a wide range of projects and events. Work includes production of two nationally broadcast television series, production support for the visiting press, broadcast access for the Center’s experts, live and on-demand streaming video, web and videoconference technologies, plus various promotional and information video projects. The intern will work closely with the coordinating producer as well as provide some assistance for the managing editor and executive producer.

Duties may include: assisting with production of the dialogue and Wilson Forum television series; preparing and editing drafts for multi-media content for television and the web; providing general office and administrative support for the audiovisual and dialogue staff; assisting with the booking of guests for television; archiving multi-media files and content from the various meetings that take place at the Center.

A production assistant internship will also give the appointee a chance to establish contacts with personnel in the fields of television and multi-media production that may prove useful for achieving future career objectives. This opportunity offers unique, hands-on, media production experience that allows the intern to be a vital part of the Centers production team. Interns also enjoy access to most of the Centers events and seminars.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must possess strong research and communication skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. The incumbent will be assisting with projects that reflect a wide variety of topics in international affairs, history and culture. A strong interest in politics and foreign affairs is required and experience in multi-media and web production is desired. Past experience with television, radio, or theatrical production is also a plus.

We are looking for someone to start in September through the end of the fall academic term. This internship will be unpaid but students may arrange to receive academic credit for their internship through their university. We are looking for individuals to devote at least 15-20 hours per week toward this internship. The Woodrow Wilson Center is located in downtown Washington, D.C., in the Ronald Reagan Building/International Trade Center (Federal Triangle Metro stop).
