Families USA will have brought together over 650 advocates for our annual conference, Health Action 2013, to develop plans and strategies to defend and implement the Affordable Care Act in the coming year.
• Compile overall and workshop evaluation results so that we may get better every year.
• Assist with clean-up and organization of all conference materials (including helping the Manager of Conference Operations with the final participant list).

Online Advocacy – Health Action
Families USA’s Health Action list was built over the course of almost three decades and includes advocates from across all 50 states that advance health care justice at the state and local levels.
• Surveying Health Action advocates through telephone interviews so that Families USA might better understand how best to support their work.
• Drafting email copy to disseminate written products and engage advocates in action.
• Supporting the Field Assistant in sending emails out to the Health Action list on a regular basis.

Supporting State-Based Advocates
State-based advocates undertake extensive public education and policymaking work to implement the health care law. Families USA supports them with resources and technical assistance.
• Tracking contacts made with state-based advocates and identifying trends in the states.
• Interviewing advocates and drafting articles for the monthly State Health Beat newsletter.
• Supporting work to further public education activities in the states. Working as part of a team to help advocates develop and implement their media and community organizing strategies.

Interns at Families USA are considered part of the staff and attend weekly staff meetings and internal team meetings to discuss Families USAs advocacy strategy and new initiatives to ensure health care access for all Americans. In addition, Families USA encourages interns to take part in the active political community of Washington, D.C. by attending policy forums at other major organizations and think tanks.
