ABOUT CFLS:
Community Family Life Services (CFLS) is a non-profit which serves the low-income and homeless families and individuals living in Washington, D.C. Our mission is to provide clients with the tools they need to move themselves beyond poverty and homelessness into permanent self-sufficiency by 1) providing short-term crisis assistance, and (2) empowering individuals and families to change their lives over the long term. Our holistic approach provides clients with education, skills, and support from a committed staff, enabling each client to pursue his/her goals.

POSITION SUMMARY:
CFLS seeks a social media savvy, creative, and organized Communications and Marketing Intern to work with the Development and Volunteer Coordinator. This internship will offer valuable hands-on experience in non-profit communications and marketing including managing social media platforms, newsletter development and event marketing. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has experience in communication and an interest in supporting our organizational mission.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Manage social media accounts including Facebook and Twitter.
• Assist with newsletter formatting and writing.
• Proof and edit marketing pieces for publication.
• Market and assist with outreach for special events and programs.
• Provide communication and marketing support to staff as needed.
• Assist with additional outreach and event logistics as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma required.
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor or graduate degree with a major or related course work in communications, marketing, business or related field.
• Excellent phone manner, communication skills, and aptitude with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well independently.
