Description:

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is accepting applications for qualified students (graduate students preferred) interested in being a part time (35 hours/week) Staff Assistant intern for the Office of the Chief Operating Officer for the Fall 2019 semester, with the possibility of an extension.

The Woodrow Wilson Center is a non-partisan research institution that has stood as the living memorial to President Woodrow Wilson since 1968. The Center has over 20 regional or subject-specific programs that connect Washington to the world, and each program is committed to generating independent, non-partisan research on public policy.

Daily tasks for this internship vary consistently, so flexibility and a willingness to learn are important qualities for intern applicants. Over the course of the internship, the intern will provide direct support to the office of the COO.

Eligibility Requirements

Successful applicants should have strong research and administrative skills, be detail-oriented, be able to work independently and collectively as part of a group, and be flexible and adaptive. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program, a recent graduate (within the last calendar year), and/or have been accepted to enter an advanced degree program. Strong writing skills, good analytical and research skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and a strong interest in project management are essential to this position. Please also indicate any foreign language skills that you may have.

Applicants that are able to intern for at least two semesters are highly preferred, therefore students attending universities in the Washington Metro area are preferred. This internship’s hours are flexible.

International students are eligible, but they must hold a valid F-1 or J-1 visa and appropriate work authorization. All international students must obtain written permission from their Designated School Official or Responsible Visa Officer at their university stating that they are in valid immigration status and eligible to do an internship at the Center.
