The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is accepting applications for qualified students (graduate-level students in a Master’s of PhD program) interested in being a paid Staff Assistant intern for the Global Europe Program for one year (20/35 hours/week). The primary responsibilities of this position include supporting both the Director of the Global Europe Program, Baroness Catherine Ashton (much of her work will be done remotely, therefore strong written communication skills are required), and the part-time Program Assistant.
The Wilson Center is a non-partisan research institution that has stood as the living memorial to President Woodrow Wilson since 1968, with over 20 regional or subject-specific programs connecting Washington to the world. One of these robust programs, the Global Europe Program, addresses a wide range of topics, including European energy security, the role of the European Union and NATO, democratic transitions, and counter-terrorism. The program also investigates bilateral relations between European countries and other strategic powers, such as Russia, China, the United States, and the Middle East.

Eligibility Requirements
• A strong academic background in contemporary European Studies is required.
• Applicants must attend a university within the DC area.
• Only students at the Graduate level will be considered.
• This position will last for one year, therefore please ensure that applicants are available for this length of time.
• The applicant must indicate when they are available to start—a willingness to start immediately is highly encouraged.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

International students are eligible to apply, but the must hold a valid F-1 or J-1 visa and appropriate work authorization. All international students must obtain written permission from their Designated School Official or Responsible Visa Officer at their university stating that they are in valid immigration status and eligible to do an internship at the Center.
