Description:

The Students’ Forum Institute (SFI) is a local organization in Bethlehem, Palestine that works to improve the prospects and careers of young people in the West Bank. We believe in sharing knowledge and experience on both local and international levels, and to aid in this goal we have developed an internship program to host local and international interns, volunteers and trainees. The selection is based on applicants’ qualifications and SFI’s current needs.

Volunteer/intern positions must not exceed 3 months. The working hours will be agreed upon between the volunteer/intern and the supervisor.

Fields of the Internship Program:
1. Fundraising:
Tasks: Contacting current donors, writing proposals and projects, searching for new donors, networking with international organizations and arranging youth exchanges and internship programs.
2. Consulting with Youth and Students:
Tasks: Conducting research on Palestinian youths’ employment and education trends- would prefer a professional who has experience in utilizing and administering the Holland Test and academic and career guidance.
3. Teaching English:
Tasks: Providing 20 hours of English language teaching for SFI staff and volunteers, in order to improve their communication with foreign workers and aid organizations. English will need to be taught at three levels: elementary, intermediate and advanced. Teaching should be done with the goal of developing SFI’s capacity for foreign mailings, electronic letters and translation in English.
4. Youth Exchange Program:
Tasks: Communicating and coordinating with youth organizations and universities abroad for potential cooperation concerning the exchange program.

On SFI side, we commit to provide the following services:
• 4 hours of Arabic Courses per week
• 2 orientation workshops about the Palestinian culture, politics and lifestyle
• A site visit to Bethlehem city
• A certificate of completion at the end of the internship
• SFI is open to college students seeking course credit for this internship

General Conditions:
The volunteer/intern must attach his/her CV, passport photocopy, letter of endorsement from a formal party (employer or university), along with a letter of interest explaining which field he/she is interested in interning in.

Note:
University students and graduates are invited to apply for the volunteer/internship program.
Applicants will receive SFI decision on their application within approximately two weeks.

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those who have prior expertise in one or more of the mentioned field and to those who speak/understand these languages: English and Arabic
