Fall Semester Field Operations Intern- Atlanta, GA

The American Cancer Society is a not-for-profit health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. We are also dedicated to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Fall Field Operations Intern in our Atlanta, GA office, this position will serve Fulton and Dekalb counties.

Those with areas of study in Business, Marketing/Promotions, Communications, Organizational Management and Nonprofit Management will find this assignment challenging and rewarding.

***Internship Project Period: 7 week period (November- December/ 20 hrs per week)***

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will assist the Relay For Life Team in day to day activities. The internship will provide valuable, real world experience in cultivating and contacting corporations, community and individuals for successful and ongoing event management that furthers the work and mission of the American Cancer Society. The intern will also work with staff to recruit and train and recognize volunteers in support of fundraising activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
•Research and contact potential sponsors and teams for Relay events.
•Assist Income Managers with Marketing and PR of Metro events.
•Develop and implement fundraising action plans.
•Track financials for Relay For Life events.
•Work with staff to recruit and train committee members.
•Assist with planning and implementation of kick-off events for Relay for Life.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
•Full-time college student or college graduate that has completed course of study, but seeking to gain real work experience.
•Reliable transportation required.
•May require occasional evening and/or weekend hours as needed.

Other Desirable Qualifications:
•Strong interest in non-profit fundraising, nonprofit management, community organization and marketing/promotions.
•Participation in American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
•Other experience working in a volunteer capacity.

***This is an unpaid part-time internship, approximately 20 hours a week. Hours are flexible depending upon student’s schedule.***
