Public Relations Intern-Trainee

Womenetics is seeking a talented and eager intern. This trainee program offers practical PR and editorial experience, tailored professional development, networking opportunities, portfolio development support and interview preparation. A temporary, unpaid position, the internship includes the possibility of specific learning opportunities required to obtain academic credit, as well as potential for an extension or promotion to a full-time role on staff.

The trainee filling the position will have the unique experience of working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and team-oriented environment. Hands-on duties include drafting and editing releases, website content, social media posts and other media documents; generating media lists and pitching stories; conducting media and general research; compiling project status reports and participating in creative brainstorming sessions.


At Womenetics, professional success is sparked by a cohesive group dynamic. While we are cooperative and collaborative, every member of the team has personal responsibilities to uphold. Those of the intern include, but are not limited to:
• Supporting/Interacting with senior team leaders
• Compiling meeting notes
• Coordinating the company’s PR/Promotions calendar
• Event support
• Administrative support – Outlook
• Internal operation tasks
• Research and writing
• Social media tracking and execution

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates must have had public relations course work or a previous public relations internship, preferably in an agency or corporate setting, and a strong interest in women’s issues, global topics and women’s leadership.

Candidates need to be strong multi-taskers, with the ability to help manage projects and multiple deadlines with an enthusiastic “can-do” attitude. Applicants should also possess proven writing, grammar and proofreading skills, a solid knowledge of AP style and an interest in working with various media and communications tools. Graphic design ability is a decided advantage.
