What you will be learning:
How to plan and execute fundraising and charitable events.
How to develop and execute a marketing/media plan.
How to promote an event and secure sponsors.
How to coordinate correspondence to major donors and board executives.
How to use the major fundraising database, Raiser’s Edge.
How to create and develop media outreach related to events.
How to work on site at a major event.
How to create and develop follow up data after the event.What you will be doing:
Utilize BGCA’s resources as well as reliable internet sources to ascertain relevant information about prospective funders for 2013 Youth of the Year event as well as the Teen Summit.
Work with media for BGCA promotional campaign in Los Angeles, the second largest market in the country.
Manage and update master invitation list with current RSVPs and contributions.
Proof mailing lists, and make changes to mailing contacts to master invitation list.
Work with Director of Alliance to secure new sponsors.
Provide day-of-event support including set-up and registration.
Assist with follow-up for sponsors.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Alliance Director for Media/Marketing/Events.
Demonstrate BGCA mission driven values of integrity, excellence and inclusion and integrate into work environment and ways of work.
Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA’s Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere.

Time Commitment:
15 to 30 hours per week from January 7, 2013 through March 22, 2013. There is some flexibility in arranging the schedule and months of internship.Education:
Candidates must be an incoming sophomore, junior or senior (undergraduate programs) or graduate student pursuing a degree in hospitality, communications, business or liberal arts.
