Our newest client, Coco Curls seeks a skilled and energetic Social Media & Public Relations intern for the 2013 Fall term! Coco Curls is a privately owned natural hair care company based in Atlanta, GA. Founded in 2008, Coco Curls is an affordable product that was created to aid in the moisturizing and nurturing of our God-given hair types. While retaining the spiral and spring of your curls, Coco Curls also soothes your hair and enhances the definition of your natural curl pattern. This moisturizer and styling aid is designed to provide shine, stability and structure to any style while strengthening your hair at the same time.
We are a growing company on a mission to expand our market reach and awareness. Our products are primarily sold online direct to consumer, and our goal through 2013 is to increase our number of wholesale accounts therefore creating live locations for our customers to interact with our brand. Over the past year we have generated significant sales to self-sustain our portfolio and expenses; however as we expand, the need for additional funds has become critical to our continued growth.
Interns will be under the direct supervision of Creative Executive Officer and will assist in all social media and public relations campaigns. Its essential that applicants to this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.
In today’s economic climate, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for college graduates to secure a job without having experience in their field! Many companies require a minimum of one year work experience before a recent graduate will be hired for an entry level position. This internship opportunity will allow you to utilize the skills you learned in school and put your creativity to work. Interning with Coco Curls will provide you with valuable work experience and a portfolio of work that will equip you with the skills to be gainfully employed in a fast paced work environment, as well as, afford you the opportunity to work independently.
Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills and should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism. Applicants should also have strong writing and proof reading skills, as well as, a solid understanding of social media. Students proficient in Microsoft Office, Multimedia and Photoshop applications are encouraged to apply. Students must have their own reliable computer and software.
• Minimum GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
• Passionate about Social Media
• Self -starter who can work independently and who can thrive well in a team-oriented environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required.
• Familiar with Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, Instagram
• Friendly and conversational
• Must be detail oriented
• Fast Learner

Social Media & Public Relations Intern Position Responsibilities:
• Increasing social media presence and gaining visibility for our brand
• Conception and implementation of social media campaigns (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
• Create a monthly virtual newsletter and other consumer publications
• Create and maintain a content editorial calendar
• Planning & Organizing Coco Curls Events
• Distribute content to various content websites
• Create flyers and press releases
• Monitor and engage on various social media platforms
• Internet research to find and engage with social media communications
• Create and maintain client contact lists
• Update webpages and data bases, as needed
• Aggregate & facilitate vendor relationships
• Brand Ambassador
• Perform other administrative responsibilities as needed
This is a part time position. Intern will work remotely, on his/her own computer. Therefore your schedule is flexible and can be tailored around your school work load. Your schedule is flexible, but most days will require a minimum of 1 hour, to keep the communication constant. Project urgency will determine the length of time and days. Estimated weekly hours are 15 hours per week, unless you have more time than that! We do require that you are available for weekly staff meetings and trainings if necessary. There is a minimum 4-month commitment, but longer if you would like to stay on board.
