Description:

The National Endowment for the Humanities’ Office of White House and Congressional Affairs is looking for qualified applicants for the NEH’s Fall 2014 Internship Program. In the past, our interns have worked on events in DC and on Capitol Hill, outreach to Congressional staff, and large-scale projects highlighting the NEH’s programs. Interns are responsible for managing invitation lists, drafting briefing memos and correspondence, and assisting with office tasks.
We are looking for interns with strong writing and communication skills in addition to a passion for the humanities. Interns must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner, be professional, and pay close attention to detail. Experience working with Microsoft Excel, WordPress, and Twitter appreciated. Our internships are unpaid, but we provide full reimbursement for work-related travel. We are looking for a commitment of at least 4 to 5 full days per week. Please send a resume, short writing sample (1-5 pages), and cover letter to Lindsay Forcade at lforcade@neh.gov. We strongly encourage that candidates submit one of the following types of writing samples: blog post, news article, press release, newsletter, review, short narrative writing piece, expository writing, detailed letter, memorandum or a short essay on a humanities topic.
