Description:

Duties: The candidate performs on-site inspections of rental, residential and commercial properties to determine extent of damage and costs to repair and/or replace real property, vehicles, personal property, machinery and equipment and other items. Schedules appointments with applicants, answers questions at the inspection site, and calculates the cost to replace or repair damaged items. Prepares worksheets using automated software and transmits data electronically. Higher-graded positions may involve working with businesses with multiple subsidiaries, apartment buildings, and condominium associations. Qualification and Experience Qualifications: For GS-07: The candidate must have 1+ year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-5 level or higher in the Federal service. This experience must include all of the following: Experience estimating quantity and costs for constructing or repairing single-family homes AND operating computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Internet Explorer. For GS-09: The candidate must have 1 year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. This experience must include all of the following: Experience estimating quantity and costs for constructing or repairing single-family homes; operating computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Internet Explorer; AND experience estimating quantity and costs for constructing or repairing multiple-family structures. For GS-11: The candidate must have 1 year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. This experience must include all of the following: Experience estimating quantity and costs for constructing or repairing single-family homes; operating computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Internet Explorer; experience estimating quantity and costs for constructing or repairing multiple-family structures; AND experience estimating quantity and costs for constructing or repairing multiple-story commercial/business structures. OR Education: Education must have been obtained through an accredited college or university with major study in architecture, engineering, building construction or another field related to this position. For GS-7: Must have one full year of graduate level education (18 semester hours or equivalent), as described above, or a Bachelors degree in one of the one majors listed above with superior academic achievement (SAA). For GS-9: Must have a Masters or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university or two full years (36 semester hours or equivalent) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. degree. For GS-11: Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited college or university or three full years (54 semester hours or equivalent) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M. degree.
