Unpaid Spring 2012 Internship - Training and Development

Student Intern-Training and DevelopmentPosition Purpose: Assist United Ways Talent Management department with assessing staff learning needs, organizing United Way learning opportunities for on boarding leadership, supervisory, technical, administrative staff, member offices and other key organizational staff models and present a proposed development in the above categories.
Principle Responsibilities:
•Assess training needs through prior surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives.
•Categorize existing training.
•Benchmark organization staff development models. Prepares and distributes training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids; Schedules the appropriate classroom and prepares the physical set up, including logistical set up.
•Identify gaps in program and propose training needs.
•Prepare cycle of training.Minimum Qualifications:
•Pursuing a B.S. or graduate degree focused on behavioral psychology, training and development, organizational development, or Human Resources.
•Strong written and verbal communication.
•Ability to communicate with all employees, including external vendors, professional training group members, and consultants by phone and in person.
•Ability to analyze and synthesize data.
•Independent and self –starter.
•Discretion in working with highly confidential information.Behavioral Expectations:

•Integrates United Way’s business strategies by building positive internal and external relationships.
•Maintains confidentiality regarding personnel and organizational information.
•Adheres to the Values and the United Way Code of Ethics at all times.Schedule to be agreed upon by supervisor and intern.
Please note that this is a learning experience and the student intern is not replacing a regular staff position. Both United Way and the student understand that no wages will be given for the internship period.
