Description:

Position Purpose: Under the direction of the Manager, Individual Giving, the student intern will develop new engagement opportunities and provide project management support.

Principle Responsibilities:
• Fundraising – Sponsorship and Donation Requests.
• Donor Engagement – Event planning and creating innovative programs.
• Volunteer Management – Working with Young Leaders Society volunteers on initiatives.
• Administrative work – Coordinating mailings and data entry.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Working towards a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences or non-profit related field.
• Organized and ability to prioritize competing assignments within deadlines.
• Skilled in verbal and written communication.
• Good judgment and initiative.
• Fully proficient and experienced in latest Microsoft Office environment (Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

• Represents United Way positively, professionally, courteously and effectively.
• Assists or takes on new tasks to help United Way achieve its mission.
• Integrates United Way’s business strategies by building positive internal and external relationships.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding personnel and organizational information.
• Adheres to the Values and the United Way Code of Ethics at all times.

Required Hours:
10-15 hours per week, per supervisors approval. Internships are for 3 month periods.

Please note that this is a learning experience and the student intern is not replacing a regular staff position. Both United Way and the student understand that no wages will be given for the internship period.
