Student Intern- Coordinator of Non-Profit Outreach
Description:
Position Purpose: The intern will work directly with: the Volunteer Coordinator in the Volunteer Center to assess and update United Way’s understanding of the non-profit community’s volunteer needs. Student intern will gain valuable experience working within the non-profit community by conducting direct outreach, as well as significant database experience.Principle Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities may include:
• Reviewing United Way’s current “menu” of volunteer opportunities in the non-profit community
• Drafting report on scope of geographic and issue-area coverage represented in the “menu”
• Outreach to funded non-profit partners not represented in the “menu” to understand their volunteer engagement needs
Minimum Qualifications:
• College student or recent graduate preferred.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, delegate and work independently.
• Experience working with computerized databases.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Sense of humor in the workplace is appreciated.Behavioral Expectations:
• Represents United Way positively, professionally, courteously and effectively.
• Assists or takes on new tasks to help United Way achieve its mission.
• Integrates United Way’s business strategies by building positive internal and external relationships.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding personnel and organizational information.
• Adheres to the Values and the United Way Code of Ethics at all times.Required hours are 15-20 per week.
Please note that this is a learning experience and the student intern is not replacing a regular staff position. Both United Way and the student understand that no wages will be given for the internship period.
