Public Relations Intern (Virtual Position)
Description:
This intern includes but not limited to:
1. Send promotional materials to potential clients and clients about the company and CEO
2. Send out articles and press releases for publication and track their publication.
3. Communicate with media/press outlet on behalf of CEO.
4. Help development and implement an outreach plan to alert the public about the firm
5. Serve as a public relations representative of KDBM and the CEO.
6. Manage the firm’s social media presence
7. Help promote awareness of KDBM and the CEO.
8. Develop and maintain an Excel Data Base on potential clients.
9. Help manage referral network and keep track of their activities
10. Develop seminars and workshops
11. Assist in securing corporate sponsors for seminars and workshopsDraft public relations materials including news releases, articles, media alerts, fact sheets, and other materials as directed.
• Assists with the development and updating of media lists and other databases, including client, marketing, and prospect databases.
• Assists with the distribution of marketing materials and conduct appropriate follow up when necessary.
• Assists with administrative duties such as faxing, sorting, stuffing envelopes, mailings and other administrative functions as assigned.
• Performing content research for news releases, articles, brochures, newsletters as assigned.
• Assisting Public Relations Specialist with organization of special events.
• Assisting with additional duties as directed for the good of the company.
The work would be 10-15 hours per week depending on the schedule of the intern. The student would work virtually and meetings would be held via conference call at least weekly to go over progress and writing opportunities.
Qualifications:
The individual must demonstrate the ability to undertake basic public relations writing assignments, an ability to interact professionally with clients and have good judgment. The individual should have working knowledge of computers, as well as word processing and database management software if necessary such as Microsoft Office. The individual must demonstrate good writing and editing skills, well organized, time management skills, be able to work independently, and understand with knowledge of basic public relations principles. Prior relevant experience is preferred.
