The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is seeking a creative and motivated individual to intern in its CARE Department. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience while working at an active, upbeat non-profit.

The Ryan White Training Intern will directly intern with the CARE team and learn about ongoing case manager competencies’ trainings, consumer education activities, housing case manager trainings, and working collaboratively with other departments that conduct trainings at AFC. The intern will be also learn how to update the case manager competency online training at all levels of development. They will also learn how to develop and implement a standardized mechanism for the online training for medical case manager certification, and assist in the evaluation of the trainings’ effectiveness. The intern will assist the training team in exploring the development and implementation of various training related formats based on participant feedback, including but not limited to webinars and video trainings.
This person will work closely with the Ryan White Training Manager and the direct service Care staff members.

This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills acquired in an education setting and apply them in the workplace. The intern will gain a better understanding of the role that service planning and resource allocation through a health equity lens can play in a non-profit setting, and be better prepared to work in the field of HIV/AIDS and public health.

The Ryan White Training Intern will learn to:
• Design and roll out the delivery of Case Manager Competency’s online training programs for the ongoing trainings for case management staff from all subcontracting agencies.
• Procedures for the development and maintenance of Learning Management Systems (i.e. Talent LMS) for case managers.
• Work with Program Directors and Subject Matter Experts to plan training efforts;
• Customize trainings per special requests;
• Assess and report the effectiveness of online training/orientation opportunities;
• Utilize information to improve training sessions;
• Collect training information to enhance online training programs for Medical Case Management Certification;
• Implement online training delivered in innovative formats with input from AFC staff and case managers.

Qualifications:

• Current or recent enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in public health, social work, sociology.
• Self-motivated, independent, understands some basic public health and adult education concepts, comfortable working with diverse communities and populations.
• Experience and/or interest in developing and delivering online learning or education to groups.
• Experienced in general/intermediate computer use both with systems software and online resources.
• One or more years of experience using intermediate Microsoft Office functionality, primarily PowerPoint, but also including Excel, Word and Outlook.
