Purpose and Development Opportunities
Minnetrista Museum and Garden’s Curation and Exhibition Department is currently developing an original in-house exhibition focused on the history of American good preservation (canning), set to premier at Minnetrista in late 2023. The intern in this position will do historical research utilizing primary and secondary sources that will inform the development of this exhibition. The research will be conducted using resources both in the Minnetrista Heritage Collection and in other repositories.Reporting Department

Stipend upon completion of internship - $750Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct historical research that will be used to develop scope and direction of Minnetrista’s 2023 in-house original exhibition on American food preservation, both in the Minnetrista Heritage Collection and other historical resources and repositories.- Develop content reports, annotated bibliographies, and object lists as needed on historical topics. Deliverables will support exhibition development.
- Scan a selection of primary source material in the Minnetrista Heritage Collection.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Work Environment
The work environment is typically divided between an office environment with desk, computer, phone, and files, and collection storage areas; however, candidate must be able to move about the entire Minnetrista 40-acre campus. Some locations may be cool with high levels of noise. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Qualifications
To perform this internship successfully an individual must have excellent research and writing skills. Pursuing a degree in history, arts, or humanities is a plus. Must possess excellent organizational and analytical thinking skills. An important requirement of the position is the ability to work without constant supervision. A valid driver’s license is required. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
