Description:

The HOPE IT Fellow will assist with the administration, development, installation, maintenance, monitoring, security, troubleshooting and support of Operation HOPEs computer systems in order to maintain a smooth operation of a multi-user infrastructure.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
• Actively monitoring the IT environment
• Proactively creating and updating all relevant software & documentation on a regular basis
• Providing day-to-day support of the end users at Operation HOPE’s Corporate and Regional offices and the users working remotely in the field, as well as Cyber Cafes at HOPE Centers.
• Administering, maintaining and updating HOPEs networks, servers, workstations, printers and other computer peripherals on both a Windows and Mac environments.
• Creating user accounts, training employees, maintaining training documentation and installing system-wide software
• Administering Operation HOPEs IT security and data redundancy policies across the country
• Interacting with users and analyzing vendor products/services to make recommendations to purchase or implement hardware and software as appropriate.
• Ensuring proper equipment inventory, licensing and usage, purchasing, and the filing of documentation for equipment at Operation HOPE HQ and at off-site locations are in compliance with auditing policies.
• Developing IT vendor relationships.
• Preparing and delivering formal project briefings to senior IT and end user management

Qualifications:

All Fellows will be required to:
• Submit an Application Essay along with their resume, outlining their community involvement, providing evidence of their leadership skills and including a statement of personal motivation.
• Attend several Leadership Activities throughout their Fellowship
• Complete a Reflective Essay at the end of their Fellowship, summarizing their work and its impact on HOPE and the community at large
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Provide and use their own cell phone and lap top

HOPE Fellows are graduate or undergraduate students (who have finished their junior year of college) with specialized skills and interest to assist HOPE managers in a specific area. HOPE seeks talented, self-motivated individuals committed to global economic and social justice. Broadly, HOPE Fellows generally have the following traits:

• Ability to work well with diverse groups
• Strong personal initiative and motivation

All these qualities combined with the strength of one’s character, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with others are taken into consideration when selecting a HOPE Fellow.

HOPE Fellows will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 from an accredited university and will be enrolled in one of the following concentrations:

SKILLS
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) a MUST
• Strong working knowledge of web-based business applications (Google, Podio, Box.com, Evernote, etc.)
• Proficient in use with Apple technology (computers, iPads, etc.)
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to problem solve independently and self-initiate towards solution
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage fluctuating work flow
• Ability to multi task with interruptions
• Effective content/contact management skills
• Ability to properly inventory large amounts of hardware
• Systems administration experience on Windows Servers
• Has good analytical and debugging skills
• Works well alone or on a team
• Demonstrated leadership abilities

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• One year of completed college or technical training
• Strong intellectual curiosity, motivation to advance in the profession
• Open to all majors

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS
• Ability to interact with all levels within a corporate environment. Maintain a positive and professional attitude in all settings.
