Instructional Intern

Have you maxed out your wizard skills? Seeking a proving grounds to level up as an educator? We’re looking for a talented Instructional Intern to join Learning Games Network’s Cambridge studio, starting September 2012 for an initial engagement of 4 months.As part of a project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, you will work with our producers and instructional designers to oversee implementation of game-based language instruction for adult ESL learners in Boston-area library and retailer locations.
You will be expected to:
- Effectively and comfortably communicate with others, especially ESL learners from various backgrounds
- Organize, monitor, and facilitate weekly play sessions and discussion groups
- Offer recommendations on learning game design iteration
- Collaborate with librarians, managers, and mentors to support language learning
- Provide on-site instructional and game-related support as needed
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years experience in adult education or ESL instruction
- Current graduate student in the education or linguistics field
- A strong passion for playing video and board games
- Proficiency in computer skills (i.e. basic troubleshooting)
- Bilingual proficiency a plus, especially Spanish
