NAMI MC offers internships for high school juniors/seniors as well as college junior/seniors for course credit only.Our goal is to provide students with a structured program to learn about the mental health field in a small non-profit environment, while developing contacts in our field. We have worked with students through the years, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in the mental health field.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) MC
NAMI MC is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by mental illnesses in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Since 1978, NAMI MC has provided self-help, support, education and advocacy for people with serious and persistent mental illnesses (often called “consumers”), their families, friends and caregivers.
•OUR MISSION•
Provide information, education, and support for people who live with mental illness, their families and caregivers.
Enhance and promote the ability of those impacted by mental illness to be their own best advocate in their daily struggles.
Advocate through partnerships and coalitions toward legislative action that improves the quality of life for those impacted by mental illness.
Combat the stigma of mental illness through community outreach and education.

Mental illnesses are biologically based brain disorders that can profoundly disrupt a person’s ability to think, feel, and relate to their environment and others.
