Were a small non-profit based in the Detroit area. We are seeking an intern that can start as soon as possible. The internship will last at least through Memorial Day weekend, with the possibility it could be extended.
The Purple Martin helps in-need children by providing school supplies, holiday gifts, and, currently, we are gathering items for Easter baskets. Our big event for the children is in August when we will host a summer camp up north in the Rogers City, Michigan, area.
The internships main purpose is to organize the three-day fundraising festival we are having in Rogers City over Memorial weekend. Most of the work is administrative, some marketing and social media, calling volunteers and donors, and generally filling in the gaps where the staff cannot.
Specifically:
- 15 hours per week, probably 18-20 as Memorial Day weekend approaches
- Making phone calls
- Sending emails
- Managing what is needed at each event
- Managing how many volunteers are needed
- Coordinating between businesses, volunteers, etc.
- Scheduling and maintaining the master calendar for the event

Qualifications:

- Be organized
- Good phone, email and social media skills and etiquette
- Some marketing experience (real world or classroom)
- Writing skills a plus
- Michigan area, although we are not set on this -- if you can telecommute, thats fine
- Computer and phone required
- We dont care about your major -- if you want to help children, if you want to learn what it is like to work for a nonprofit, if you want to help manage an event, we are open to any majors/degrees.

Hours:

10-15 hours per week
