Description:
Duties: Responsible for performing work that involves a wide range of information technology (IT) management activities that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or major components of an organization. These duties can include strategic planning, capital planning and investment control, workforce planning, policy and standards development, resource management, knowledge management, architecture and infrastructure planning and management. Specifically, will assist other organizations in developing business cases including establishing IT performance metrics and anticipated total cost of ownership; draft position papers on IT issues such as the implementation of emerging technologies; identify and interpret relevant information including industry standards and practices; develop alternative approaches to addressing issues; recommend solutions and lead the implementation of management decisions; evaluate the impact of changes in business needs on current policy; and conduct feasibility studies. May also be involved in the development of an enterprise IT modernization plan, work with other organizations to establish priorities for IT investments, build business cases, demonstrate the total cost of IT investment, and establish IT metrics and associated performance measurement tools. At the senior level of the position, will also communicate the offices strategic plan, mission, vision and values to the team; make assignments with deadlines and time frames for completion; coach the employees in problem solving methods and techniques; balance the workload; train the employees in team building; monitor and report on the progress of work; prepare work reports; represent the team in dealings with management; approve emergency leave; provide input on employee performance evaluations; and resolve simple, informal complaints.
