Description:

The Remote Marketing and Event Planning Intern provides marketing, event planning, and administrative support for the SciComm Summit, the only virtual science communications event that brings together science communication facilitators and practitioners, in a sophisticated online platform, to advance the field of science communication and increase the capacity of anyone who communicates science to the public.


This internship is virtual / remote and can be based anywhere in the USA.

The internship is unpaid/for college or class credit.

The minimum weekly hourly commitment is 10 hours or more.

We have a preference for candidates that can start as soon as possible

We have a preference for candidates that can continue their internship until April 30th, 2020.

The Remote Marketing and Event Planning Intern…

Recruits summit speakers.

Communicates with confirmed speakers to ensure their profile is complete.

Manages speaker information in the online summit system.

Engages with the SciComm community on social media to promote the summit.

Provides general administrative support to the summit team.

Engages in all stages of the summit planning and execution process.

Assists in sponsor outreach, follow-up, and proposal submission.

Assists in media outreach and relations concerning the summit.

Writes and edits promotional text about the summit.

Creates marketing collateral connected with assigned campaigns.

Provides support to speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and attendees.

Assists in analyzing and reporting on summit data.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Excellent organizational and planning skills.

Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.

Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team-oriented environment.

Proficient in Google for Business (GSuite), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail.

Willingness to learn new technology, software, and web-based systems.

Flexibility and self-direction.

A desire to learn and develop and a passion for executing remarkable work.

Comfortable with social media platforms.

Comfortable with design platforms such as Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Etc.
